Vocal Chakra Healing Tones (VoCHeT®) are tones that utilize the power of sound vibration created by the voice, to activate, spin and cleanse the Chakras.  This releases unnecessary or stuck energy and  clears the channels, facilitating healing and creating a heightened state of awareness.  VoCHeT

also liberate the voice and are good vocal exercises.

VoCHeT came to me in an inspiration along with colors, which are traditional to the East, and totem animals, which are traditional to Indigenous American cultures.  While the word Chakra is Sanskrit for “Wheel” and our understanding of the Chakra system stems primarily from the East, the Hopi also teach of seven levels or layers of consciousness.  There is a blend of musical idioms in the VoCHeT though ideally, culture is transcended.

In yogic philosophy, Chakras are described as energy centers, wheels, or subtle channels residing on the shushumna, a current that runs the length of the spine.   It is believed that these energy centers are receptors of vibration and therefore respond to sound and color  which elicit a healing response.  It is also believed that energy is exchanged between the physical and non-physical realms via the Chakras.  Experimenting with the VoCHeT will allow you to experience this for yourself.  If this doesn’t fit into your belief system, the Chakras can simply be viewed as metaphors for living a balanced life.

My CDs "The Song of the Tree" and “Medicine Drum Kirtan” contain the VoCheT in different idioms, beginning with the Root and moving through the Sacral, Solar Plexus, Heart, Throat, Third Eye and Crown Chakras.  The pieces, arranged in ascending order from C to B, are designed to heal, activate and align the Chakras.  This can be experienced if you practice the tones or simply listen to the music.  If you practice (an instructional booklet is included with the CD’s),  send the sound vibration through each energy center and improvise along the way.  Or, let the music accompany other forms of healing such as KiVo®, dance, yoga, meditation and sleep.
